Terms of service

Effective August 11, 2026

The service

Verdict is a daily deduction-puzzle game available on the web and as a mobile app, operated by Endpaper Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). The daily case is free. Verdict Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks the full case archive and Pro-only features.

Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You're responsible for your account credentials. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; deletion is immediate and permanent, removes account-bound access and purchase entitlements, and does not by itself create a refund. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (e.g., attacking the API or other players' data).

Memberships & billing

Verdict Pro is sold on the web through Stripe and in the mobile apps through Apple App Store or Google Play billing, with RevenueCat used to keep purchase status in sync. Prices, any trial, and renewal terms are shown before you buy. Prices may not include applicable taxes; where we are required to collect tax, it is shown before you pay. Paid plans may start with a 14-day free trial: a payment method is collected up front (on the web, your card is saved when you sign up; in the apps, your store account is used), and the trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first. Monthly and Yearly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled through the provider that billed you. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues through the period already paid for unless the charge is refunded, reversed, or disputed. Deleting your Verdict account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.

Store purchases are also subject to the store's payment and refund terms. For a web charge, contact us at the address below; for an Apple or Google charge, use the store's refund process where required. A refund, reversal, or payment dispute may suspend or remove the access granted by that purchase.

Full Access & Case Packs

Full Access is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: it includes everything in Pro for as long as Verdict runs, with no renewal or future Verdict charge for Full Access itself. It is not a promise that Verdict or Endpaper Labs will operate forever. Full Access does not itself cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google, so you must cancel that subscription in the relevant store if you no longer want it to renew.

Case Packs are finished collections sold as one-time purchases. On the web they are bought through Stripe; in the iOS and Android apps they are bought through Apple App Store or Google Play billing. A pack bought in a store stays with the Verdict account that bought it, and restoring on a different Verdict account does not move it. Every Case Pack is also included while any Pro membership is active, including Full Access. Pro inclusion is access, not a separate purchase: if a Monthly or Yearly membership lapses, included packs close until Pro resumes. A pack bought outright remains on that account independently of a later Pro lapse, for as long as Verdict runs, unless that pack purchase is refunded, reversed, or subject to a payment dispute.

Second Chair

Second Chair lets an eligible paid Yearly or Full Access member sponsor Pro access for one other Verdict account. Monthly plans, unpaid trials, and complimentary grants do not qualify. The holder receives access derived from the sponsor's current entitlement, not an independent Pro purchase. That access ends as soon as the sponsor's qualifying access lapses, is refunded, or otherwise stops qualifying. It also ends when the holder leaves, when the sponsor removes the holder, or when the sponsoring account is deleted. The holder's own account, progress, and purchases remain theirs.

A sponsor may remove the current holder at any time and may seat one replacement in each rolling 365-day window anchored to the first accepted invite. After that replacement has claimed the chair, the sponsor may still remove them, but cannot seat someone new until the window resets. A holder who leaves voluntarily does not use the sponsor's replacement allowance. An account cannot sponsor one chair while occupying another.

Fair play & content

Puzzles, case text, and the Verdict name and design are ours; don't republish them wholesale. Sharing your results, times, screenshots, and spoiler-free brags is not only allowed but encouraged.

No warranty

Verdict is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it up and correct (every puzzle is machine-verified to have exactly one solution), but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, and we're not liable for indirect damages. Our total liability is capped at what you've paid us in the last 12 months.

Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these terms or the service that we can't resolve informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you and we each consent to venue there.

Changes & contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app. Continued use after changes means acceptance. Questions: hello@endpaperlabs.com.
