Verdict and Sudoku put elimination to work in different ways.

Both Sudoku and logic grids reward careful constraint tracking. Sudoku limits which digits can occupy a cell. A logic grid limits which people, objects, places, or times can belong together. The rule systems feel different even when the next move is the same: remove what cannot fit.

Sudoku is about legal digits

In a standard Sudoku, each empty cell must take a digit that does not conflict with the row, column, or smaller box it belongs to. A common move comes from scanning a unit and finding that only one cell can accept a particular digit. The numbers act as symbols: arithmetic is not the point.

Choose Sudoku when you enjoy surveying a visual field for repeated patterns. The rules stay constant from puzzle to puzzle, so practice teaches you familiar techniques and faster scanning.

Logic grids are about relationships

A logic grid also begins with exclusions, but its categories carry labels. “Avery is not in the gallery” and “the key was found before the tea” describe relationships rather than digits. A clue may become decisive only after another clue fixes an endpoint or removes an option.

One rule, two forms of elimination

Suppose a Sudoku row still needs 2 and 7. If one empty cell already sees a 2 in its column, that cell must be 7. In a three-seat logic grid, suppose Avery is in seat two, Chen drinks coffee, and tea is immediately before coffee. Chen cannot occupy seat two, and coffee cannot occupy seat one, so Chen and coffee occupy seat three. Tea is forced into seat two.

Both conclusions eliminate an impossible option until one choice remains. Sudoku gets that information from the grid geometry; the logic grid gets it from the wording and its one-per-position rule.
